freeCodeCamp.org
freeCodeCamp (and, yes, that camel case is the proper capitalization) is a free information website where aspiring programmers can learn how to code in a wide variety of languages. The website allows users to step through a defined progression path that keeps building on previously learned skills throughout the course. This ensures that, by the end of each course, the user possesses sufficient knowledge to be proficient in the language. Because of this structure many employers do, in fact, take the certificates that freeCodeCamp offers into account when they see it on an applicant’s resume.
It could be argued that freeCodeCamp is more of a SaaS than an information website. However, because the service offered here is, at it’s core, the delivery of information, I feel that freeCodeCamp qualifies more as an information website than a SaaS website.
freeCodeCamp is sponsored through donations by users and a variety of industry leaders with a vested interest in training up new programmers.
