Understanding AOPA Members…

These user statements will help us understand the needs of AOPA pilots and co-pilots to help them stay flying and encourage them to fly more often.

The AOPA Pilot

Our AOPA pilots need a way to remove more of the paper-and-pen tasks of pre-flight so that they can do less work in order to enjoy a flight and fly more often.

The AOPA Co-Pilot

Our AOPA co-pilots need a way to find local amenities and means of transportation, no matter where they land, so that they can spend some quality time at their desired destination.

5 Big Ideas…

The Fully Automated Plane

Just get in and go. Pilots can set their destination and the plane takes all the complex paper and pencil tasks, crunches the numbers, and prints out your flight forms for you. All you have to do is get in and fly.

Pre-Flight Form Generation

This app lets you set a destination and completes all pre-flight documents for you to print off at home. When you’re ready to get in the air this assistive app makes real-time corrections for tack based on up-to-date weather data and updates your flight plan accordingly.

Co-Pilot Amenities Locator

Step off your plane anywhere in the world and have quick and easy access to local transportation options, amenities, hotels and more.

Airplane Destination Cities

Getting around town has never been easier because this new city is made entirely for private pilots! The landing strip is open year round, 24h/day. There are no cars, just taxiways everywhere, so you’ll never have to worry about renting a car – just drive your plane! With no shortage of amenities you’ll never not have something exciting to check out. So get started on that pre-flight checklist, already!

Taxi Partnerships

Who knows the best places in town better than a local cab driver? With this new partnership, taxi companies and AOPA benefit each other by offering exclusive destination deals.

Our Best Big Idea…

The biggest unavoidable pain affecting AOPA members that we identified were the pre-flight checklists and forms. It’s a complicated and tedious process that requires countless hours of generally undesirable work. No one would want to do all that paper pushing just to arrange one flight. We want to get pilots excited about flying again! By removing the chores associated with each flight we can free up pilots to fly more and work less.

Our subscription based SaaS app allows pilots to select their destination and rough out a flight path, while generating all the course details and auto-populating every form they require. The app even gives pilots the ability to make quick and easy changes as needed, based on whatever might come their way be it weather changes or airport closures. The app is designed for mobile which means easy and intuitive use on a tablet or even just a smartphone. The app updates the pilot in real time based on changes in wind and weather conditions. So go ahead and throw that screwy dial ruler in the glove box for good! Your tack is automatically calculated while you fly so all you need to do is sit back and enjoy the experience of flying, hassle-free.

As the app gains traction and our user base grows we plan to create free airport accounts so that airports can claim and manage hub pages, update their hours of operation and even change their radio frequencies on the fly as needed. Like a Google My Business page, these free accounts allow for airports to advertise, offer specials, post updates, and even create special holiday hours as needed. Because airports make money off airport fees for landings, these businesses are incentivized to use the free app, especially as more and more users use the app. Furthermore, additional revenue streams could come into play through local business advertising. These adverts would be visible through the airport’s hub page, giving pilots new and exciting ideas about things to see, do, go, eat, etc. while they’re in town.

These are great and you did a good job on your need statement – but you’re missing the drawings.
